I have used it a few times and each time, it is RTFM to get it right. IIRC, you turn the switch and watch the blinkling light. Then turn the saw on. Once the saw is turned off, it is back to normal. Now that doesn't excuse one from being safe on another brand of saw that doesn't have a lockout switch to isolate the saw and unplug it.
